Summary of Rental Conditions

This document contains a summary of some of the Rental Conditions. For full detailed Conditions refer to the Rental Agreement on pick-up. Rates quoted are in New Zealand dollars.

Branch Hours

All Hippie Branches are closed Christmas Day (25 December), New Years Day (1 January) & Good Friday (22 April)

Please note that the Budget model is not available in New Zealand.

Standard Rate Inclusions

The Standard Daily Rate is in New Zealand Dollars and includes 15% GST (Good & Services Tax).

Long Term Discounts

Long Term Discounts apply to the standard daily rate as follows:

21-34 days - 8%
35-49 days - 10%
50+ days - 15%

• This discount does not apply to the Stress Free Package component
• Multiple rentals are eligible for the long-term discount
• There are no further long-term discounts available

Stress Free Package

The Stress Free Package is strongly recommended for total peace of mind and is payable per day in addition to the standard daily rental rate as follows:

• Drivers 21 to 75 years - NZ$20 per day to a maximum of 50 days rental, ie NZ$1,000
• Drivers 18 to 20 years - NZ$30 per day to a maximum of 50 days rental, ie NZ$1,500

The Stress Free Package does not include the one way rental fee if applicable.

* Liability depends on the age of the youngest driver. Please refer to the section Standard Liability.

Vehicle Registratinon Recovery Fee

A charge of 3% of the total cost will be levied to cover vehicles registration, duties, other associated costs and administration fees.

Protection Package

Personal Injury

New Zealand legislation provides limited coverage for personal injury. Hippie Camper strong recommends that all people travelling in New Zealand take out their own personal travel insurance.

Property Damage

The Vehicle is insured for damage to it or damage to the property of a third party. However the renter is responsible up to the amount of the applicable Liability for the cost of such damage to third party property, or to the rented vehicle. The renter is also responsible for the cost of demurrage for the period the vehicle is unavailable due to repoairs. The Liability is in respect of each claim, not per rental. In additional to the Liability an administration fee of NZ$75 will be charged per claim.

The Liability is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be apid at the time the accident is reported to Hippie Campers, not at the completion of the rental period. Hippie Campers reserves the right to charge the renter for any vehicle damage including Third Party property damage not reported on return of the vehicle.

Standard Liability

Drivers 21 to 75 years

Hippies rental charge includes a standard Liability of NZ$2,500 for drivers aged 21 to 75 years.

A Bond of NZ$2,500 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract. Payment of this Bond is only accepted by credit card. The listed amount will be debited to the credit card immediately. An administration fee equal to the merchant surcharge applies.

Drivers 18 to 20 years

Hippies rental charge includes a standard Liability of NZ$3,500 for drivers aged 18 to 20 years.

A Bond of NZ$3,500 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract. Payment of this Bond is only accepted by credit card. The listed amount will be debited to the credit card immediately. An administration fee equal to the merchant surcharge applies.

The Standard Liability can be reduced by purchasing one of the following Liability Reduction Options (LRO):

Liability Reduction Option 1 (LRO1)

Drivers 21 to 75 years

Liability of NZ$1,200 applies for Hippie vehicles for drivers aged between 21 & 75 years.

This option can be purchased by paying to Hippie NZ$12 per day. The maximum amount payable for this Option per rental is NZ$600 ie 50 days rental.

A Bond of NZ$1,200 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract. Payment of this Bond is only accepted by credit card. The NZ$1,200 will be debited to the credit card account immediately. An administration fee equal to the merchant surcharge applies.

Drivers 18 to 20 years

Liability of NZ$1,200 applies for Hippie vehicles for drivers aged between 18 & 20 years.

This option can be purchased by paying to Hippie NZ$22 per day. The maximum amount payable for this Option per rental is NZ$1,100 ie 50 days rental.

A Bond of NZ$1,200 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract. Payment of this Bond is only accepted by credit card. The NZ$1,200 will be debited to the credit card account immediately. An administration fee equal to the merchant surcharge applies.

Liability Reduction Option 2 (LRO2)

Drivers 21 to 75 years

An NZ$100 Liability applies. This option can be purchased by paying to Hippie NZ$20 per day. The maximum amount payable for this opotion per rental is NZ$1,000 ie 50 days rental.

A Bond of NZ$100 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract. Payment of this Bond is only accepted by credit card. The NZ$1,200 will be debited to the credit card account immediately. An administration fee equal to the merchant surcharge applies.

Drivers 18 to 20 years

An NZ$250 Liability applies. This option can be purchased by paying to Hippie NZ$30 per day. The maximum amount payable for this opotion per rental is NZ$1,500 ie 50 days rental.

A Bond of NZ$250 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract. Payment of this Bond is only accepted by credit card. The NZ$1,200 will be debited to the credit card account immediately. An administration fee equal to the merchant surcharge applies.

Vehicle Security Deposit or Bond

For security purposes, only a credit card can be used to provide a Bond. The amount of the Bond will be debited to the credit card account immediately. An administration fee equal to the merchant surcharge applies. The credit card holder must be present and able to sign for the Bond upon vehicle collection. The credit card holder is jointly and severally liable for any damage to the rental vehicle.

The Bond is fully refundable when the vehicle is returned to the correct location on time, is full of fuel and all other terms of the Rental Contract have been complied with. If the there is damage to the vehicle on its return, the Bond will be used to cover the cost of such damage up to the amount of the relevant Liability. However, if the terms of the Rental Contract are breached and the Bond is insufficient to cover the damage then any extra cost will be charged.

Full Responsibility

At all times the renter is responsible for:

• Damage caused where the terms of the Rental Contract have been breached.
• Damage caused by negligence.
• Damage caused to the vehicle in any way by part or total water submersion or salt water.
• Damage caused due to a single vehicle roll over.
• Damage caused to the vehicle by the use of snow chains.
• Damage caused to the vehicle by the renters wilful conduct.
• Damaged caused to the vehicle when using the vehicle in contravention of any legislation or regulation controlling vehicular traffic.
• Damage or loss caused to any personal belongings.
• Damage to the awning, overhead or underbody of the vehicle.

Transfers

Vehicles must be collected and returned to the Hippie Branches (not airports). A transfer to the Hippie branch from the Airport and vice versa is provided free of charge.

Form of Payment

At time of pick up at the depot the accepted form of payment is Credit Card, Debit Card or EFTPOS for rental charges or additional products. The accepted credit cards are Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Diners Club. No cash payments will be accepted under any circumstance.

NOTE: A credit card is required at all times for the Vehicle Security Deposit.

Any transaction made by credit card will incur an additional surcharge as follows - Visa & MasterCard 2%, American Express & Diners Club 4.5%.

Exchange Rates / Currency Variations

All credit card transactions are conducted in New Zealand dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. Hippie Camper does not accept any liability for variances up or down. Refunds by credit card can take up to 15 working days depending on the renters Financial Institution.

Rental Duration

The minimum rental for all vehicles is 10 days.

Between 15 December 2011 and 10 January 2012, a minimum rental period of 14 days applies. Minimum rental periods are subject to change during peak periods.

One Way Rentals

A one way rental fee of $250 is charged for rentals between the North and South Islands and vice versa, where pick up is between 1 September 2011 and 31 March 2012.

Drivers Licence & Minimum Age

A current and full vehicle drivers licence is required. If the drivers licence is not in the English language then an international drivers licence is also recommended. An accredited English translation will be accepted in lieu of an international driving permit. The drivers licence must have been held for a least two years and be valid for the whole length of the rental. The original drivers licence must be shown at time of pick up when the driver is present.

Drivers must be 18 years of age or over. For drivers 75 years of age or over, a current medical certificate stating that the customer is fit to drive for the duration of the hire is required upon vehicle collection.

Kitchen & Personal Kits

Each vehicle is supplied with complimentary living equipment such as bedding, cooking equipment, eating utensils, bath and tea towels.

Maps & Campground Guides

Each vehicle is supplied with a complimentary Road Atlas and campground guides.

Vehicle Consultation

On pick up of the vehicle the Hippie Staff will provide a complimentary vehicle consultation. This includes an explanation of all the interior and exterior features of the vehicle as well as driving tips.

Hippie Welcome Pack

Each vehicle is supplied with a complimentary Hippie Camper Pack for the first night. The pack contains matches, mini shampoo and conditioner, dishwashing liquid, sponge, soap, salt and pepper, coffee, tea and sugar sachets.

LP Gas Refill Service Fee

The gas bottle(s) is supplied full. A service fee of NZ$25 is payable on pick up of the vehicle. The gas canister can be returned empty to Hippie Camper at the completion of the rental.

Additional Products

• Camp Chairs - NZ$15 per rental
• Camp Table - NZ$20 per rental
• GPS - NZ$10 per day up to a maximum of NZ$100 per hire
• Heater/Fan - NZ$15 per rental
• Satellite Phone - NZ$20 per day plus call charges
• First Aid Kits - A First Aid Kit is supplied in every vehicle. If the seal is broken or the kit is not returned the kit becomes the property of the rental and an NZ$50 fee is charged when the vehicle is returned.

Baby/Booster Seats

Baby or Booster Seats cannot be fitted into the Hippie Camper.

Multiple Rentals

Consecutive Rentals can be combined to qualify for a long term discount rate. Rentals in Australia and New Zealand can be combined to obtain a long term discount rate, providing travel is within a 3 month period. If drop off of a vehicle and pick up of a new vehicle occurs on the same day then a day each will be charged per respective vehicle. Multiple rentals are treated as separate rentals under the one way fee and minimum rental period conditions.

Travel Restrictions

The Hippie Camper can only be driven on sealed/bitument roads or well maintained access roads less than 500 metres long to recognised campgrounds.

No vehicl shall be driven on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), Ball Hut Road (Mt Cook), Bluff Road that runs between Kuatunu and Mataurangi and North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula).

Hippie reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions, and the distance to nominated destinations in relation to the length of the rental period.

Change of Drop Off Destination

If the renter wishes to change the drop off destination after the rental has commenced, they first must obtain authorisaion from the Hippie Camper Head Office. Subject to the change being approved, a minimum additional charge of NZ$500 will apply.

Rental Extension

If the customer wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must first obtain authorisation from Hippie Reservations who will advise of the additional costs. Rental extensions is subject to fleet availabililty. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone or at an Hippie Branch immediately on confirmation of the rental extension.

Failure to obtain authorisation will result in the renter being charged double the daily gross rental rate.

Repairs

Although Hippie Camper run late modes, it may happen that small repairs are required. Repairs of up to NZ$100 may be affected without authorisqtion and will be reimbursed unless the damage is caused by the renter. For amounts over AU$100, Hippie Camper will need to be informed in advance. All vehicles are enrolled in the New Zealand Automobile Association and 24hr emergency roadside assistance is available.

Infringements & Administration Fees

Hippie Camper reserves the right to charge the renter for any speeding, toll way or parking fines not reported on return of the vehicle. In additional to these costs, Hippie reserves the right to charge for associated administration costs for processing the fines (irrespective of liability). An administration fee of NZ$75 per fine will be applicable.

Cancellation & Amendments

In the case of cancelling your reservation, the deposit is Non Refundable. In addition there is a NZ$100 cancellation fee. A No Show is considered as a cancellation.

Amendments are charged at a rate of NZ$60 per change. This applies but is not limited to changing the client name, vehicle type, reducing the number of rental days, changing the pickup dates or locations. No refund given on the initial deposit paid.

If an amendment is made to the rental whereby the length of hire is shortened, no refund will be given on the initial deposit amount. In addition, if an amendment is made inside 14 days of pick up, the rental will be charged at the number of days originally booked. A relocation fee may also apply if the collection or return location is amended.

Where the hire is being extended, the amendment fee will not apply.

Please note that amendments may result in the daily rental rate to be recalculated at the rate applicable on the date of the amendment for the entire rental period.

Travel Insurance

It is strongly recommended that the renter ensures they take out the highest level of Travel Insurance.

Change of Vehicle

Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through unforseen circumstances, Hippie Camper reserves the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the renter to a refund.

Vehicle Category

Vehicles cannot be requested by make or model, only by vehicle category.

Voluntary Downgrade

Should the renter decide to take a lesser vehicle than booked within 14 days of pick up or during the retnal then they will not be entitled to any refund.

Limit of Liability

In the event of no alternative vehicle being available to the renter our liability is limited to a refund of the hire charge of in the case of mechanical failure (unless caused by the renter) the remainder of the hire period.

Important

Hippie Camper reserves the right to refuse any retnal at their discretion.

Animals

No animals are permitted in the vehicles, excluding guide dogs.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted in any of the vehicles.
