GST is a New Zealand Government imposed tax. GST is included in all Pacific Horizon rates and is currently 15%. Pacific Horizon reserves the right to amend GST upon Government intervention. 

Stress Free Package

The Stress Free Package is NZ$55 per day (maximum NZ$2,750 per rental) and is payable in addition to the daily gross rental rate. The inclusions on the Stress Free Package are as follows -

• Camp Chairs & Table
• Baby / Booster seat - as required
• Snow Chains
• GPS unit

For your Protection - Vehicle Insurance Cover

All Pacific Horizon motorhomes come with comprehensive Insurance cover which insures against recoverable 3rd party accident damage, theft and break-ins (excluding personal belongings).

An excess of NZD$5,000 (per incident) applies in the event of any damage to either the Pacific Horizon motorhome or to 3rd party property.

Multiple windscreen and tyre damage is covered in all policies, as is overhead and under-body damage on the rented motorhome. A credit card imprint only (no money held or transferred) will be taken on motorhome pick up. The security can be covered by cash, travellers cheques in NZD or a credit card.

If the insurance excess and the Vehicle Security Guarantee are covered by credit card, the amount will NOT be debited to your account and will only be done so in case of an accident.

We retain the right to hold these details for 28 days after the hire.

Please see the 'exclusions' section below, whereby all liability cover will be made void.

Pacific Horizon Travel Homes offer the following options to reduce the excess of NZD$5,000:

Liability Reduction Option 1. Street Smart Excess Reduction

Cost per day NZ$29 (max charge NZ$1,450) 

NZ$29 per day (added to the daily hire rate)

Reduces the excess for any damage to either the motorhome or third party property to a maximum of NZ$2,000 (per incident). The total insurance charge is limited to a maximum of 50 days or NZ$1,450.

Liability Reduction Option 2. Freedom Plus Excess Reduction

NZ$39 per day (added to the daily hire rate)

Reduces the excess for any damage to either the motorhome or third party property to nil (NZ$0) for the first incident/accident. The total insurance charge is limited to a maximum of 50 days or NZ$1,950.

Stress Free Option 2. All Inclusive Option

NZ$55 per day (added to the daily hire rate)

Reduces the excess for any damage to either the motorhome or third party property to nil (NZ$0) for the first incident/accident. Plus the following Additional Equipment is supplied at no charge as requested: Picnic table & chairs, Child/Booster seat(s) as required, Snow chains, GPS unit.

Exclusions

Any damage due to misuse or negligence to the motorhome interior and its fittings such as but not limited to roof vents, satellite dishes, locks and catches, outside step, grey waste cap and power cord is excluded from any insurance option.

VEHICLE SECURITY GUARANTEE

A credit card imprint is required on all rental agreements. The credit card must be valid for 28 days after the end of the hire. In the absence of a credit card, Pacific Horizon requires a cash vehicle security bond of NZ$5,00 ($2,000 if Street Smart Excess Reduction is taken, or $250 if Freedom Plus Excess Reduction is taken). This credit card imprint or cash will be held for 28 days after the return of the motorhome.

NOTE: The hirer is fully liable for any damage to the Pacific Horizon motorhome or third party property if:

• The terms of the rental contract are breached.
• Damage to the motorhome is caused by careless, wilful or reckless driving or breach of any New Zealand driving rules and regulations.
• Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• Driving on restricted roads (as listed below).
• Water submersion or salt water damage caused through the hirer’s fault.
• Incorrect fuel is used.

Minimum rental duration and costing

The minimum rental period and cost is a 7 day hire. This is extended to a 14 day hire for the travel period of 16 December to 10 January.

Shorter rentals may be accepted entirely at the discretion of Pacific Horizon, but the minimum rental cost applies.

Motorhome rentals are calculated on a per calendar day basis, i.e. day of pick up and drop off is always counted as a full day irrespective of what time the motorhome is collected or dropped off.

One Way Hire

One way fee of NZ$300 will apply for any hires where the pick up & drop off depot are different locations (includes any of Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch).

Long Hire Discounts

Long hire discounts are available for motorhome rentals of greater than 20 days.

Licence

A valid full national driver’s licence is required. Non-English language national drivers’ licences must be presented in conjunction with an official translation, or a valid international driver’s licence must be shown.

Age Restrictions

Drivers must be 21 years of age or over.

Additional Products & Services

To be requested at time of reservation or upon vehicle collection and paid by customer on day of vehicle collection:

• Premium Vehicles - Guaranteed Under 2 Years Old NZ$35 per day
• *Picnic Table - NZ$30 per rental
• *Picnic Chair - NZ$15 per rental
• *Baby / Booster Seat  (3 Sizes)- NZ$35 per rental
• *Snow Chains - NZ$50 per rental (In vehicle. If seal broken customer is charged)
• Bike Rack - NZ$150 per rental

* Denotes additional products included in the Stress Free Package.

Outdoor chairs/table, GPS, Baby/Booster seats and snow chains (if required) are included in the Stress Free Package.

Exchange Rate / Currency Fluctuations

All credit and debit card transactions are conducted in New Zealand dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations and/or bank transaction fees there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. Pacific Horizon does not accept any liability for variances up or down.

Road Restrictions

Motorhomes can only be driven on sealed/bitumen or well-maintained roads.

No vehicle is permitted to travel on:

• Skippers Canyon Road (Queenstown)
• Colville Township to Port Jackson
• Ball Hut Road( Mt Cook)
• Ninety Mile Beach (Northland)

No animals are permitted in Pacific Horizon motorhomes, with the exception of guide dogs, subject to the approval of Pacific Horizon.

No smoking is permitted in any Pacific Horizon motorhome.

Transfers

Pacific Horizon provides free Courtesy transfers from/to accommodation/airport/ferry

Repairs

Minor repairs (when the hirer is not at fault) up to NZ$100 may be made without authorisation and will be reimbursed upon production of an itemised receipt. Amounts above NZ$100 require approval from Pacific Horizon On-Road Care, and clients must retain an itemised receipt.

Change of Vehicle

Should the vehicle booked by unavailable through unforeseen circumstances, Pacific Horizon reserves the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to a refund.

Cancellation and Amendments

Due to COVID-19 Travel Advice from the Government, our FREE cancellation policy has been amended. All FREE cancellations will now be held in credit for future use until September 2021. 

You must put any request to Cancel or Amend in writing or we cannot action.  The date of the email will determine the following Cancellation fees:

• If cancelled up to 45 days prior to pick = No Fee
• If cancelled from 45 to 8 days prior to pick-up = 20% or deposit paid (whichever is greater) +$100
• If cancelled 7 to 1 days prior to pick-up = 50% of Rental + $100
• If cancelled on day of pick up or No-Show = 100% of Rental
• Once a booking is confirmed, any changes made that may shorten the hire will not be entitled to a refund.

Amendments: If a bookings travel dates are amended within the cancellation fee period to be outside of the cancellation fee period and is subsequently cancelled, the cancellation fee for the original booking will apply.

Changes to dates and/or locations may attract a relocation fee.

$50 per change. This applies but is not limited to changing the client name, vehicle type, reducing the number of rental days, changing the pickup dates or locations. If rental is shortened, no refund will be given on the initial deposit.  In addition, if an amendment is made inside 14 days of pick up, the rental will be charged at the number of days originally booked. A relocation fee may also apply if the collection or return location is amended.  Where the hire is being extended, the amendment fee will not apply.

If the amendment results in changing vehicle brands your deposit may not transferable.

Amendments may result in the daily rental rate to be recalculated at the rate applicable on the date of the amendment for the entire rental period.

Any amendments within cancellation time period is subject to the supplier providing permission to amend the travel dates, or cancel the reservation and having to re-book.

If a bookings travel dates are amended within the cancellation fee period to be outside of the cancellation fee period and is subsequently cancelled, the cancellation fee for the original booking will apply.

SUBSTITUTION OF VEHICLE

If, for reasons beyond our control, the reserved motorhome is not available, Pacific Horizon reserves the right to substitute a comparable or superior motorhome at no extra cost to the client. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the renter to any form of refund..
